London has lots to see, and I don't mean the obvious tourist attractions – I mean the wonderful details that are all around us such as coal holes, old wall ads (ghost signs), doorway mosaics, boot scrapers, pub signs, street names, even letterboxes and door knobs.

Ghostsigns archive
It's been a busy week for ghost signs. I found some 'new' ones in N17 and Sam and I have been busy checking the proofs for the postcards we have created for the launch of the archive.
I love ghost signs. They are like a forgotten memory of a time gone by. There are a few in Spitalfields - one is on the corner and has something to do with paper bags (but it has been repainted). Glad someone is capturing them.
Thanks for your comment Jacqui. I am aware of the one you refer to in Spitalfields but i am just not so keen on the ones that have ben retouched over the years, especially if the product is no longer availale. Though i do have a snap of this one in Stepney: http://www.flickr.com/photos/janepbr/3072012052/
