My walking tours (max 2hrs unless specified) and 60-minute online presentations via Zoom are about the things I am genuinely interested in and inspired by. My style is friendly and inclusive and I hope my enthusiasm shines through such that the people who join me are also intrigued and motivated to find out more for themselves.

Art Deco – The Jazz Age architecture of the 1920s–1930s

London is littered with fine examples of forward-thinking interwar architecture. I like to highlight the many fabulous buildings that, for some obscure reason, slip though the net on those 'Best Of' lists, yet they are often more fabulous and more Deco than the well-known buildings.

Walking tours are available in Shoreditch, Piccadilly, Soho, Bloomsbury, Holloway, Arsenal and more. The online talks are either themed such as theatreland, residential or unsung gems, or you can 'travel' from Whitechapel to Mayfair or Hampstead to Westminster.

These tours and talks invite you into my world to show you the kind of details that inspire this website – we'll follow a trail of old hand-painted signs and also look at other forms of bygone advertising in the form of defunct logos, date stamps, ironwork and mosaics. Hear the stories behind the companies and the products.

Mr Pooter's Holloway – find out about the world that this lovable character might have inhabited in the late 1880s had he been a real person. This is a light-hearted yet informative 90 minute stroll down to the Nags Head junction. If you haven't read the book before, I'm sure you'll want to afterwards!

Philanthropy and Social Housing

A walk looking at a variety of Islington's impressive and well-designed social housing estates, talking about architecture, philanthropy, renovation and regeneration, and hearing about the people who made them possible. More disticts to be covered soon.

Holloway's Heyday

The Oxford Street of the North – A time-travelling tour comparing today's Nag's Head shopping district with the beautiful stores of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras when this stretch of Hoolloway Rd was North London's main shopping destination. Actually, I still say, if you can't buy it in Holloway, then you don't need it!

The Only Way is Essex Road – A stroll along the full length of the road (just over a mile) talking about the road's diverse history including innovative schemes and architectural gems.
